Sauce Plum Wonderful
Authored By:  California Dried Plum Board.
Use as a basting sauce, glaze, or dipping sauce when barbecuing or grilling.
Diet Types: Dairy Free, Low Fat, Low Sodium, Vegan, Vegetarian, Wheat Free
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 cup prune juice
  • 3/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/4 cup Cider Vinegar
  • 1-2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Serves: 12
    Cooking Time: Under 30 minutes
    Instructions:
    In medium saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add onion, ginger and garlic; cook and stir 5-7 minutes or until onion is golden brown. Add prune juice, marmalade, vinegar, crushed red pepper and pepper; bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil 1 minute. In small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water; stir into saucepan. Cook and stir until thickened and clear. Remove from heat; cool 20 minutes, uncovered. Spoon into jars with lids for gift-giving. Store, covered, in refrigerator for up to 1 month. Use as a basting sauce, glaze and dipping sauce for barbecued or broiled meats and poultry, if desired.
